These are the rubbish bins which I designed to exhibit in Tokyo Designers Week 2010.

The theme of Student Exhibition was "Red List-endangered spieces". I thought in another way, "what can we decrease to save animals and our environment?" and I found rubbish, the nearest thing to us in everyday life.

These 2 rubbish bins tell you that the rubbish you throw are going to be burnt(like papers, wasted dished, etc) or to be buried(like glass, batteries, etc) at THE TIME YOU THROW them.

The rubbish we throw, are going to pollute the air and the ground.

I hope they do not only ask you to think properly before you throw, but also ask you to think properly BEFORE YOU BUY.

これらは東京デザイナーズウィーク2010のためにデザインしたゴミ箱です。

学生展のテーマは「レッドリスト - 絶滅危惧種"だった」私はあえて「私たちの生活の中に、絶滅させたら動物や環境が救われるものは何だろう」から考えました。そして、一番身近にあったのはゴミでした。

この二つのごみ箱はゴミを捨てる瞬間にそのゴミは燃やされるんだよ（紙やら、食べ残しやら）とのことを感じさせたり、又は、そのゴミは埋められるんだよ（ガラスやら、乾電池やら）とのことを感じさせたりする。

捨てられたゴミは、空気と大地を汚していく。

この二つのゴミ箱が捨てる時に考えさせるのはもちろんですが、買う時にも考えさせることができたら幸いです。

埋め立てゴミは土の下に捨ててるんだよと

燃えることで、焼却炉のイメージ。捨てて、扉を閉めたら中で火が燃えてるように光る。

This is an annual exhibition by Craft and Textile Department. As named, they are "objects" with "lights". Let's see.

これは東北芸術工科大学の工芸とテキスタイル学科の展示。名前と同じように、ライト付きオブジェの展示です。

ケーキバイキング／The Cake Buffet

昨日は前バイトしていたキッチンエコーのケーキバイキング行ってきました。
あそこのケーキは本当にうまいから、行ったことない人は次回是非行ってみてください。

Yesterday I went to a cake buffet in Kichen Echo, the restaurant where I worked in.
The cakes there are really delicious. Anyone who has never been there, you've got to try it next time.

うまいケーキ食べられて、「幸せだ」と皆言ってました。本当に幸せだ。
ケーキの写真もっと撮れば良かったと、今後悔しています。次回また行けたらケーキの写真をもっと撮るつもりです。

Eating such delicious cakes truly makes people feel happy.
I am a bit regret that I didn't take more photos of the cakes. I'm going to take more photos next time when I go for this.

花火／Fireworks

今日天気良くて、皆で学校前の公園で花火してきました。
私は花火より、撮影をしにいきました。

The weather was pretty good today, so we decided to play with some fireworks in the park near our U. Rather than playing fireworks, I actually kind of went there for PHOTOGRAPHY.

その後、花火が終わってしまって、携帯電話でのライトで「ピカピカ」をやってみました。
After we finished all the fireworks, we tried the "Pika Pika" with the lights of mobile phones.

今日の夕方、買い物に行こうとした時、自転車に乗ったら、目の前に現れたのはすごくきれいな空でした。不思議ぐらいきれいだった。

私は何を考えずに、家に戻ってカメラをとりました。そして、鍵をアイタママ家を飛び出した。
一人で感動しながら写真を撮りました。
興奮しました。

Today evening, I was going to the supermarket to get some foods. Right after riding on my bicycle, what appeared in front of me was a beautiful sky. It was amazingly beautiful.

Without hesitating, I got back to my house to get my camera. Then I came out with my house UNLOCKED.
I was so excited while taking these photos, alone.

昨日七日町にある山形学び館に行ってきました

学び館とは「山形市立第一小学校」を市民の「交流」や「学び」の拠所にするコンセプトでできた場所。

中には資料室、物産紹介室、カフェなどがあります。

建物自体も良かったし、雰囲気も素晴らしかったです。

Yesterday I went to Yamagata Manabikan in Nanokamachi.

Manabikan holds the concept to be a place for "communication" and "learning" for the residents.

There are reference room, product introduction room, cafe, etc.

The building itself was great and the atmosphere was cool too.

アルミ鋳物工場見学／Aluminium Casting Factory Tour

先週、ゼミでアルミ鋳物の課題のため、増田先生に工場見学に連れてもらいました。

二カ所行って来ました。
ひとつ目は「天童アルキャスト」。
この工場は大量生産でアルミ鋳物を生産しています。

Last week, Mr. Masuda brought us to a factory tour to know more about aluminium casting as we are going to similar products.

We went to two places.
The first one was Tendo A.L Cast Co.
This factory produces aluminium castings in volume production.

最後に見せてもらった機会に感動した。
それはショットブラストという加工。
バリの除去、表面研削、梨地加工のような模様付けなど広い意味での研削の表面加工です。

The machine which were shown last, impressed me the most.
It's a machine for Abrasive blasting.
Abrasive blasting is the operation to smooth a rough surface, roughen a smooth surface, shape a surface, or remove surface contaminants.

左は完成品、すごいでしょう。感動。Left is processed. See the difference? Amazing.

二番目は「日野軽金属」さん
この工場は少量生産や試作向けの作業をしています。
作業員は一人。一人！
寂しいというか、怖いというか、心配というか...

ちなみにこういう職人さんが減っているそうです。

The second place was "Hino Light Metals".
This factory works for small production and prototyping.
There is only 1 worker here. Yes, only ONE.
Shall I say it's lonely or, scary or, worried...

Besides, it's said that number of such craftsman is decreasing.

車はすごく狭いところにとめた。雰囲気よかった。
We have the car parked in a extremely narrow place. The atmosphere was great.

型砂、暑そう／Sand to make the mold. It's so HOT.

型を壊して、鋳物を取り出す／Break the sand mold and take the casting out.

製品／The products

工場が近くにあって、行けて幸せです。工場見学は面白いし、プロダクトをデザインする人にはモノの製作を知らなくてはいけないと思う。

天童アルキャストさんも日野軽金属すごい技術を持っていて、「もっといいモノを作りたい」「うちの製品を見てもらいたい」の気持ちはすごく理解できます。

また、職人さんたちには尊敬しています。仕事大変そうだし、自分だったらあまりしたくないなと思った。でも、やはり職人さんがいないといいものは作れません。

We were so lucky to have had chance to go for this tour. Not only that the factory tour was interesting, for us who study product design it is important to know about how products are made.

I could understand how much they want to make more and more products, and get people's attention as they really have great skills.

Furthermore, I really respect those craftsmen. If it were me, I don't thing I would want to do such works. Therefore, without them, good products will never appear.

霞城公園の桜／Sakura in Kajo Park

昨日日曜日、天気よくて、山形の霞城公園で桜の写真撮ってきました。桜も、景色も、人もすごかった。

Yesterday(Sunday), I went to Kajo Park, Yamagata to photograph sakura. The sakura and the view was brilliant. Therefore, it was so crowded.

Nano*Come / ナノカム

"Nanokamachi" is the name of the town area of Yamagata. And "Nano*Come" is an event that decorates the town area and makes it like an "art museum".

It's held by a group called LIRG. It has no relation to any "marks" or "lesson". I took part in this event as I wanted to know more people and to have more experience, and maybe become more famous.

We were supposed to decorate the displays(the entrances, the windows, etc) of shops.

I chose a sweet shop with restaurant upstairs, call Juichiya(十一屋). As it's a sweet shop, I decided to have something that shows "happiness and bliss" and I thought of "ferris wheel"

Let's see the process.

ナノカムとは七日町を美術館のようにするイベントである。

これLIRGというグルプがやった企画のひとつである。授業や成績には関係ない。このイベントを参加したのはもっと多くの人と出会いたい、いろんな経験が欲しいと思ったから。また、もしかして、もうちょっと有名になれるじゃない？と思った。笑。

私は十一屋というお菓子屋を選んだ。お菓子屋なので、「幸せ」を表したかった。そしてその「幸せ」を観覧車で表現しようとした。

では、そのプロセスを見てみよう。

Ok, I shall show the final version at the last part.

For the doors, I at first planned to draw a ferris wheel on something transparent and then hang on the glass door. But as I didn't have enough time and I didn't have much confidence either, I decided to draw them with Illustrator and print it out.

Even when I did so, I didn't have enough time to cut them all alone, so I found some friends to help me.

完成品は最後に見せる。

一方、ドアの装飾に関して、最初は透明なフィルムに絵を描いて、それをガラスドアに貼ろうと思った。だが時間も自身もなかったので、パソコンで描いて、印刷して貼ることにした。

しかし、それにしても時間は足りなかった。そこで、何人かの友達に頼んだ。

It has been a long long time I didn't update my blog. Life gets so busy, assignments, part-time jobs, this and that. I apologize to my readers.

Well, the Plywood Furniture exhibition has finished and I have received lots of comments on my Evinne Desk.

長い間ブログ更新しなかった。毎日は課題やら、バイトの仕事やら、などなどですごく忙しい。読者の皆さん、すみません。

家具の展示、無事終わった。いろんな貴重なコメントをもらった。

Many people liked it. I am so happy about that. Some said the blackboard is interesting, some like the glass+drawer part...

And of course, I received some important criticisms. The corners are too sharp, dangerous; the drawer is too weak; chalks are a bit dirty...

These criticisms are very essential for my next design. I am going to make a stool, a table, and maybe a chair soon.

多くの来場者が気にいったみたい。超嬉しい。黒板の部分がいいとか、ガラスと引き出しの発想が面白いとか...

そして、もちろん良くない部分を言ってくれた人もいた。角が鋭いとか、引き出しちょっと弱いとか、チョークいやだとか...

Plywood Furniture Exhibition / 合板の家具展

Second year students from product design hold this exhibition every year. I remember last year when I saw this exhibition, I was so excited as I knew I was going to have same exhibition this year too.

I exhibit my very-confident-work, Evinne Desk. If you have never seen this video before, please take a look.

毎年プロダクトの二年生がこの展示をやっている。去年見た時、「来年自分もやるんだ」と思い、興奮していた。

今、エヴィンデスクを展示している。もしこのビデオ見たことのない方いたら、見てみてください。

Beside, I left my blog URL on the desk I am exhibiting, many people took it! So happy to see that and I told myself I have to update my blog no matter how busy I am.

また、展示されているデスクの上にブログのURL置いたら、皆もらってくれて、大変嬉しかった。なので、いくら忙しくてもブログ更新しなきゃと思った。

Imonikai with foreign students, by TUAD / 留学生の芋煮会

First of all, I apologize for not updating my blog for soooo long. I am really very busy recently, lots of homework, lots of jobs.

Last saturday, my uni held an imonikai for us. They actually prepared everything, and even arranged 2 cars to send us there. What we needed to do was only "attend it" and some more everything was FREE. How sweet and kind of them.

まず、最近ブログを更新していないことに謝ります、すみなせん。最近課題や仕事多くて、超忙しい。

先週の土曜日に、芸工大が留学生の芋煮会を開催してくれた。事務所の人々が全てを用意してくれたし、車2台で現場まで乗せてくれた。我々留学生は「出席」さえすれば良かった。而も全て無料！超優しい。

Imonikai with PD2 / PD2の芋煮会

This is the second imonikai I had in this autumn, with my Product Design classmate. Not going to write much, let me show you the photos.

これは今年2回目の芋煮会だ。プロダクト2年の芋煮会だ。あまり書くものないので、写真見て下さい。

We cleaned up the place we used, brought all rubbish back, because we love the planet.

ちゃんと方付けてから帰った。地球大事にするから。

Besides, I am going to have my 3rd imonikai this year this coming saturday, with my fellow foreign students friends!!

How to Present Well / 上手くプレゼンする仕方

Every time before I present something, I would watch some videos that inspire me, remind myself to do my best every time.

I found this very useful video(titled "Present Like Steve Jobs") last time and I found it very very useful. Let me share with to you.

Summary of Speaking Tips

Set the Theme
- Make your theme clear and consistent
- Create a headline that sets the direction for your meeting
Provide the Outline
- Open and close each section with a clear transition
- Make is easy for your listeners to follow your story
Demonstrate Enthusiasm
- Wow your audience
Sell an Experience
- Make numbers and statistics meaningful
- Analogies help connect the dots for your audience
Make it Visual
- Paint a simple picture that doesn’t overwhelm
Give ‘em a Show
- Identify your memorable moment and build up to it
- Give your audience an added bonus to walk away with
Rehearse, Rehearse, Rehearse
- Spend the time to rehearse

Besides, having confidence is very important. You have to believe that what you thought/designed is the best.

If there are "WHYs", you have to know the reason. You have to know about your idea clearly, only when you yourself is very clear about your idea, you are not presenting, but you are telling your audience a story, inspiring them.

毎回プレゼンする前に、刺激をくれるビデオを見る。たとえどんな小さなプレゼンでも、全力を尽くすべきだと。

前このビデオを見つけた。かなり役立つので、ここにのせた。そして頑張って日本語にまとめたので、是非見てみてください。

まとめ

テーマを言う
- テーマをはっきりすること（今日、新しい軽自動車を提案します）
- プレゼンの進む方向と一致する表題を作ること（この新しい軽自動車はお年寄りでも簡単に乗れます）
概説を述べる
- 各セクションをしっかり開閉すること（以上この車のスタイリングでした。次はこの車の使いやすさについて話します...）
- 観衆が簡単に物語につれていけるようにすること
熱意を語る
- 観衆を驚かすこと（かっこういい！すごい！）
経験を語る
- 数字や統計量に意味を持たせること（日本全国の軽自動車のユーザーのうち、X%は60歳以上の人です）
- 数字だけではなく、例を与えること（日本全国の軽自動車のお年寄りユーザーのその車を集めたら、東京ドームY個分の駐車場）
想像しやすくさせる
- 簡単で明確な図を見せる
観衆にショーを見せる
- 観衆が自分のプレゼンを覚えてくれるように頑張ること（特別なベデオを見せることなど）
- 観衆に以外なモノを見せる（車の模型など）
練習する
- ちゃんと時間かかって、練習すること

また、自信を持つこともかなり大事。自分の提案は最高だと思い込んだほうがいい。

提案について「何故？」と聞かれた時、ちゃんと自分の中に答えがでることも大切だ。誰よりも自分の提案について詳しいし、自信持ってたら、観衆に魅力を感じさせられるだろう。

Imonikai with Kitchen Echo / キッチンエコーの芋煮会

I'm pretty busy with my assignments recently, though school reopened only 1 week. And that's why I haven't updated my blog for quite some time.

These weeks, I had 2 imonikai-s.

What's IMONIKAI?
IMONI(芋煮) is a type of thick potato and meat soup eaten traditionally in the autumn in the Tohoku Region of Japan. KAI(会) = Festival.

We had our imonikai by the riverside, full of nature. I love such outdoor activities.
Besides, as imonikai is a very traditional event, when autumns comes, supermarkets here sell those ingredients in set and even lend you the pots and tools. You don't have to buy a big pot just to use it once a year.

最近忙しくて、長い間ブログを更新しなかった。

この二週間、2回芋煮会を参加した。

キッチンエコーの皆で川の隣で芋煮会を行った。私はこういうアウトドアの活動が大好き。

In Yamagata Prefecture in particular, and its neighbours in general, imonikai (imoni get-togethers) are an important autumn tradition. Tourists flock to Yamagata for the Autumn Imoni Festival (Akino Imonikai)where they join local residents on the banks of the Mamigasaki River on the first Sunday in September,to eat imoni from a gigantic iron kettle, which uses a building crane to add ingredients and stir the pot. In 2009 the festival served imoni to 3o,ooo guests before the pot was empty.(from WIKI)

BlueSky Market / あおぞらいち

Thursday, I was invited to join a market(which i directly translated) called BlueSky Market on Saturday.

We were supposed to make things to sell(second-hand goods were allowed). And that was really sudden.

That day, I made lots of calls and sent lots of mails to look for partners. I finally found about FIVE friends who were interested but at last only ONE friend managed to accompany me. (Yuina, thank you so much!)

Besides, so coincident that the laser cutter which I used to make accessories was NOT WORKING, which mean if I want to use acrylic, I have to cut them MYSELF. Yeah, and I did. I spent more than ONE HOUR to finished cutting acrylics(with cutter) and making holes on them. If i have used laser cutter, I only needed about TEN MINUTES. Now you see how important machines are.

木曜日に土曜日のあおぞらいちというイベントの出品に誘われた。

フリーマーケットはだめで、何かを作って売るみたいな感じだった。すごく急だった。

木曜日にいっぱい電話したりメール送ったりして、一緒に出品してくれる仲間を探した。5人ぐらい見つけたが、結局土曜日に一緒に来てくれたのはたった一人だった。（ユイナ、本当にありがとう！）

また、学校のレーザーカッターが故障で、使えなかった。なので自分でアクリルを切るしかなかった。それで、レーザーカッターで10分でできることを1時間以上かかって、普通のカッターでアクリルを切ったり、ドリルで穴開けたりした。機械って、本当に必要だね。

Saturday morning, (very thanks to)Yaguchi Kun sent us to the venue.

We didn't expect that the market was so well-held. They prepared tent, tables, chairs and even lights for us. Moreover, they didn't charge us a single cent! They were all FREE(for only TUAD students).

土曜日の朝に、矢口君に会場まで送ってもらった。（矢口君、ありがとう！）

それほどちゃんとした市だとは正直思わなかった。テント、テーブル、椅子そして照明まで全部準備してくれた。しかも芸工生限定参加費無料！

Beside our stall was the "Experience Bouldering" stall. I didn't try it by my friends did.
The lady working there was very good in praising people. "I bet you have done this before right?" "Good! Skillful!" "The first 5 year old!"

私達の店のとなりは「体験ボルダリング」だった。私はやらなかったが、何人かの友達は登った。
あそこのお姉さんの褒め言葉がうまかった。「やったことあるでしょう」「うまい！じょうず！」「初めての5歳だ」とか。

Sky here gets dark at around 6 recently. With lights, darkness was not a problem, but it was so so so cold.

最近空は6時ぐらいに暗くなる。照明あって、暗くなかったが、超寒かった。

We at last back home at 8:30. This was really a nice experience. Walking out off the school, talking more with people is making me grow. Looking forward to join such events again.

夜8時半までやった。本当にいい経験だった。学校から離れて、一般人と接触するのは私を成長させる。また今度やりたい。

Honda Workshop2009- part 3/3

At 3pm of the last day of the workshop, we presented once again. I actually do not have much to write, but I have lots of pictures to show.

最終日の3時にもう一回プレゼンした。今回はあまり書くことないが、見せたい写真は山ほどある。

I myself like this "Remarkable" pretty much.
I believe that if you ride this in town, you are going to be remarkable and it suits both man and woman.

Besides, I'm quite happy that I did finish the whole bike as some other teams only finished 1 side.

Now, let's take a look at other designs.

自分はこの「目立つ」がかなり好きだ。
都会でこのバイクに乗ったらきっと目立つだろう。そして、男性も女性も簡単に乗れる。

また、バイク全体完成できて良かったと思っている。他に片方だけ完成したチームもいたから。

今回のワークショップ、いろいろ勉強になった。芸工大、ホンダ、小泉さん、上原先生、先輩たち、特に川越さんと永井さんに大感謝。ありがとうございました！

そうだ、シールはあの箱で4百万だそうです。

I remember when I was in SM3, I pasted this "Nismo" sticker at onto my car. I think I can have more original design for my car next time.

また、高三の時に自分の車にも「Nismo」のシールを貼ったことある。将来は自分の車にもっとオリジナルなデザインができればと思っている。

Honda Workshop2009- part 2/3

After the presentation, I and my partner, Ishikura went to buy the sprays we needed. We bought those sprays for real cars, which were pretty expensive.
Therefore after being sprayed the black covers didn't become white straight away.

We at last used lots of different white sprays to cover the black and finished it with the real car sprays again. I love the white covers, they don't look like "made-of-plastic" at all and I actually made some gradation with silver sprays. We finished all the spraying on day 4.

プレセンの後、パートナーの石倉君とスプレーを買いに行った。実際車用のスプレーを買ったから、高かった。
でもスペレーしても元々黒いカバーはすぐ白くならなかった。

結局いろんな白いスプレーを使って白くした。そして仕上げはまた車用のものでスプレーした。白くなったカバーはけっこう気に入った。プラチックには見えないし、私はシルバーでグラデーションもつけたからだ。塗装が終わったのは四日目だった。

After the painting was done, here came the stickers part. We cut a lots of patterns and then adjusted them. These patterns look "following-feeling" but I actually spent a lot of time to make them look nature and tried to make them look "speedy".

塗装終わったら、シールの部分に入った。模様を切ってそれを軽く貼りながら検討した。この模様は「気持ち的」に見えるが実は時間かかってもっと自然で、スピード感があるようにした。

Pasting the stickers on the covers were really interesting. Stickers look totally different when they are pasted on the surface, following the curve.

シールを貼るのは本当に楽しかった。シールを曲面に沿って貼ったら、雰囲気が変わった。

Honda Workshop2009- part 1/3

The 5-day Honda workshop has finally finished. It is one of the best experience i have ever had.
Let me tell you the story.

5日間のホンダワークショップが終わった、本当にいい経験だった。
では、その過程を教えましょう。

Day1(14th,Sept)一日目
The first day, we were given time to make our own ideas while designing on the "designing base" of the HONDA RX50.

初日に私たちはHONDA RX50のデザインベースに、アイデアを考えながらデザインした。

Design is always about inspiration. If it comes to you, you could have 10 ideas in 10minutes; but if it doesn't come near you, you could spend 10hours just for 1 idea.

That day, I spent lot of time but didn't have many ideas that I myself liked.
Luckily at night I finally had 2 ideas which I liked and decided to use.

デザインという仕事はよくインスピレーションに影響される。インスピレーションがあれば10分で10案出すことはできる。でもそれがなければ10時間に案が1しか出ないのも不思議ではない。

その日、時間かかったのに気に入ったアイデアは少なかった。
でもやっと夜に気に入った案が二つあって良かった。

Day2(15th,Sept)二日目
This day we were asked to finish all over final designs. To be more effective, I rendered only the engine part and color copied into 2. Then I rendered the designed part on other papers, then cut and paste.

この日、全てのデザインを終わらせなければならなかった。効率のため、最初にはエンジンの部分だけをレンダーリングし、それを2枚カラーコピーした。そして別の紙でデザインされた部分だけをレンダーリングし、切って貼付けた。

Day3(16th,Sept)
Finally the designer from Honda, Mr Koizumi came. He brought 2 RX50 bikes and lots of tools.
We were like little children that first time saw some new toys, trying to separate the parts and so on.

RX50 is really cool, doesn't look like those normal 50cc bikes("gentzuki" in Japanese) at all.

この日にいよいよホンダのデザイナー小泉さんが来てくれた。二つのRX50というバイクといろんな工具を持って来てくれた。皆は新しいおもちゃをもらった子供のように、それを分離したりした。 RX50は本当にかっこういい、ぜんぜん原付には見えない。

Then we presented our ideas to Mr. Koizumi and had a vote. I did practiced for my present but I am really not satisfied with my present, don't think i did well.
My "remarkable" was chosen.

そしたら小泉さんにプレゼンして、投票した。前の日にちゃんと練習したが、うまくプレゼンできなかった。自分もあまり納得できない。
私の「目立つ」が選ばれた。本当に良かった。

8 out of 24 were chosen. After that, we started to make these sketches into reality...

24案のうちに8案が選ばれた。そして、皆がスケッチからそれぞれのアイデアを現実にしていく...

These are the stickers we used, 1 piece costs 5000yen(RM190). Guess how much does this box cost?

Honda Workshop2009- coming soon / もうすぐ

I'm currently attending a workshop held by Honda in my school, from 14th to 18th, morning till evening or night.
It's quite tiring, but I can only say that, it is really super duper enjoyable!

I have so many things to say, some are happy some are upset.
Therefore, i didn't manage to get those photos I want to upload here from my teacher and seniors, so I shall write them some other day.

最近は学校でホンダのワークショップを受けている。14日から、18日まで、朝から夕方か夜にかけてやっている。
ちょっと疲れるが、めちゃくちゃ楽しい！

言いたいことは山ほどある。嬉しいことも、悲しいことも。
でもここにのせたい写真を先生や先輩からもらっていないから、また今度まとめて書く。

I then came to the town area.

Kyoto is prosperous but it is not too gorgeous.

You can find crowd here like in other cities, but you can also find historical sites here.
It is not as pressured as Tokyo, and it is not as loose as countrysides either.

In Kyoto, some buildings are not allowed to be built more than 5 stories, for the sake of view.
In Kyoto, you can find tourists from all around the world whole year.
In Kyoto, there are so many universities that there are lots of youngsters here.

People here are energetic.
People here like "love and peace".

That's why it is easy to fall in love with Kyoto.

Next to the town area, you can find a river, Kamogawa.

そして、商業区に来た。

京都は繁栄しているが、豪華すぎない。

他の都会と同じように人ごみは見えるが、古跡もいっぱいある。
東京の圧迫感はないが、田舎ほどでもない。

京都では眺めのために一部の建物は5階までしか建てない。
京都では年中観光客の姿が見える。
京都では大学が多いから、若者も多い。

京都人はいつも元気そうだ。
そして彼らは"love and peace"が大好きだ。

なので、すぐ京都が気に入っても当然だ。

商業区の隣に、川がある。鴨川である。

Kamogawa is very important to people in Kyoto.
They like to spend their time here leisurely.
WIth either family or lover or friends....
What funny is, the distances between couples there are almost the same.

Sitting on the bicycle, holding the handhold, feeling the wind that blew on my face was so enjoyable.
I could spend hours here.

鴨川は京都人にとって、とても大事な川である。
彼らはここで時間を過ごすのが好き。
家族連れ、恋人と、友達と...
面白いのは、ここにいるカップルたちの間の間隔はほぼ同じこと。

自転車に乗り、手がかりを握り、風を感じ、めちゃくちゃ楽しかった。
ここに何時間いても平気だ。

Kyoto Trip3 - By Bicycle / 京都の旅3 - 自転車で

I came back to senior's house alone by train to get the bicycle. Made sure that I have my maps, tower and water and set off.

It was so enjoyable to cycle in the crowd, in a place where nobody knows me.
Nobody knows me, I know nobody.

My first place was Ginkakuji.

自転車を取るために電車で先輩の家に戻ってきた。地図、タオルと水を持って出発した。

誰も私を知らない町で、人ごみの中に自転車を乗るのはめちゃくちゃ気持ちよかった。
誰も私を知らない、私も誰も知らない。

まずは銀閣寺に来た。

Kinkakuji is golden but Ginkakuji is not in silver.
This place was really scenery that it settled my heart.

I actually learned some landscape design in school but I just couldn't remember anything about it.

Well, I will come to Kyoto again.

金閣寺は金色だが、銀閣寺は銀色じゃない。（のは何故？）
ここは景色がよくて、心が落ち着いた。

ランドスケープの授業で造園のことを勉強したはずなのに、何も思い出せなかった。

大丈夫、また京都来るから。

After the Ginkakuji, I planned to go to the Fushimi Inari Taisha.
But no matter how far and hard I cycled, stopped by the roadside many times to check the map, it was still so far. So I changed my mine and went to Yasaka Shrine. Yeah, this is one the advantages of traveling alone.

銀閣寺の次は伏見稲荷大社へ行こうと思った。
しかし、何回も地図チェックして、いくら頑張って自転車乗っても、まだまだ遠かった。なので、目的地を変えて、八坂神社に来た。これは一人旅のいい所だ。

Yasaka Shrine is just beside the Gion. They actually made each other famous.

八坂神社はちょうど祇園の隣にある。お互いに有名させている。

Kyoto Trip2 - Setting off / 京都の旅2 - 出発

I first went to Sendai by bus(800yen,1hour) and then changed to express bus to Kyoto(6500yen,12hours).

In the bus, what came up to my mind was what my sis has told me. "Give yourself more chances to walk around, as such things only students are able to do. Money, enough will do." Yeah, I totally agree with her.
Besides, it is believed that for people studying design, whatever they see is useful for their studies. I believe this.

The next morning, after I reached the nearest bus-stop from my senior, Mr. Tan's house, he came to pick me.
I love his house, it is very Japanese traditional style.

We had a chat while having coffee and he lent me some maps.
I then study the maps myself and tried to decide where I should visit.
I actually made my very first plan by then.

まず、バスで仙台まで行った(800円,1時間)。そして、京都までの夜行バスに乗り換えた(12時間,6500円)。

バスの中で思い出したのは姉の言ったこと「いろんな所へ旅してきて。そいうことは学生時代しかできないから。お金なんて足りたらいい。」うん、私も大賛成だ。

また、デザインを勉強している人には何を見ても勉強になると言われている。私もそう信じる。

翌朝、先輩（タンさん）家の近くのバス停に着いて、向かいに来てもらった。
先輩の家が気に入った。すごく伝統的で、日本っぽい家だった。

コーヒーを飲みながら会話してた。地図も貸してもらった。
その後ちょっと京都の地図を研究し、行きたい所を決めた。
実はその時初めて旅行の計画を立った。

After lunch, I followed him to the uni where he is working, Kyoto Seika University.
Kyoto Seika University is very different from my uni as FREEDOM is the most important thing there.

昼ご飯の後、先輩に連れて彼の就職している京都精華大学に来た。
京都精華大学はうちの大学とはかなり違い、自由を最も重視する。

After that, I came back alone, get the bicycle and started my alone-trip.

その後、一人で戻ってき、自転車を取って一人の旅を始めた。

Kyoto Trip1 - Foreword / 京都の旅1 - まえがき

I went to Kyoto and Tokyo for 8days 9nights. As I didn't make any concrete plan, I didn't have any concrete expectation.
I only hoped to know more about myself and Japan.

I enjoyed this trip very much, and I shall call it the trip with my soul.

I cycled alone around Kyoto, went to almost all famous places there, got many advices from my senior, visit Good Design Expo in Tokyo, saw the big Gandam, met my fellow old friends in Tokyo...

After coming back, I feel like I love my life more than before, I'm now more energetic.

Let me share my stories with you.

8日9泊の京都、東京の旅へ行って来た。行く前に具体的な計画がなかったから、具体的な期待はなかった。
ただ自分と日本をもっと知りたいと思った。

今回の旅は本当に楽しかった。心の旅だった。

一人で京都で自転車乗ったり、殆ど全て京都の有名なところ行ったり、先輩にアドバイスをもらったり、グッドデザインを見に行ったり、でかいガンダムを見たり、東京の友達に会ったりしてきった。

戻ってきたら、生きてることがもっともっと好きになった気がする。もっと元気になった。

では、この旅の出来事をここに書いておく。

Toyota iQ / トヨタアイキュー

The Toyota iQ is a city car first introduced as a concept in 2007. Toyota later revealed the production version in 2008, with Japanese sales beginning in October 2008 and UK sales in January 2009.

トヨタアイキューは2007年にコンセプトで発表された。そして、2008年に製品バージョンが発表され、同年十月に日本で販売され始めた。

This car is one of those cars that impressed me. Does it look very small? Does it look like the SMART? Yes, it does. But what impressing is, different from SMART FORTWO, this is a 3(adults)+1(child)-seater car. Toyota claims it as "compact, not compromised".

I like Toyota very much and 1 of the reasons is their designing policy. Toyota makes different cars to satisfy different people. It's like if there are 100 people with different lifestyle, they are going to create 100 types of cars to satisfy their needs. Wow!

For a white-collar worker that goes to work by car, he doesn't need a big car that waste a lot of petrol everyday, but he may sometimes need to fetch people. I can imagine how this car can fulfill his needs. I may buy a Toyota iQ for working use, and a Toyota Alphard for family use.

これは私を感動させた車の一つとなる。小さく見えない？スマートに似てない？でもSMART FORTWOとは違い、iQは3(大人)+1(子供)乗りだ。「コンパクトではあるが我慢はないというものである」とトヨタは語る。

私はトヨタが好きな原因の一つはトヨタのデザインポリシーにある。トヨタは違う人のために違う車を作る。もしライフスタイルの違う100人がいれば、トヨタは100種類の車を作り、皆を満足させるわけだ。ぅわあ！

毎日車で通勤するサラリーマンにとって、大きくて燃費悪い車は必要ない。でもたまに人を乗せることはある。iQはこういう人には役立つだろう。私だったら仕事用のiQと家族用のトヨタアルファードを持ちたい。

Hey, wait, such a small car, should be not safety enough right? No, take a look at the Euroncap testing result.

ちょっと待て、こんな小さな車、危ないだろう。いいえ、Euroncapの実験結果を見てみよう。

It got 5stars out of 5. This is because it is well-designed and all the airbags are set at the right places.
(By the way, (the bigger-than-iQ)Proton Impian(Waja) got only 3stars.)

五つ星の中に、五つもらった。それはiQはよくデザインされた上、エアバッグが適切なところに設置されたからだ。

Toyota iQ was "Car of the year2008" in Japan. Maybe we will see a lot of such cars on the road one day in the future.

Toyota iQ は日本"Car of the year2008"と選ばれた。将来こういう車は増えてくるだろう。

By the way Aston Martin and Toyota are cooperating to create another car like this. They only released a incomplete photo of the new car so far.

ついでに、イギリスのAston Martinはトヨタと協力し、iQみたいな車を生産するらしい。今までは作り中の写真一枚しか発表されていない。

(1) The Idea / アイデア

This was one of my assignments. We had to make any furniture with plywood. At first, we were asked to think of 30 ideas(in 1 day) and let the teacher check.

これは一つの課題だった。合板で家具を作る課題だった。最初、私たちは30案を一日に考えてきてと言われた。

I thought a lot of ideas and thought of either making a chair with rack or a desk. After showing my ideas to the professor, he praised the idea of the desk a lot and that made me decide to make this.

たくさんの案を考えた上、棚と椅子が一つになった家具かデスクを作ろうと思った。先生がデスクの案をほめてくれたから、それにしようと思った。

(2) The Blackboard / 黒板

At the first stage, the cupboard part was drawers. But then I thought of merging white board with the cupboard and the table. So I changed it.

White board? That's a blackboard! Yeah, I went to look for a white board which is magnetic, but it was so very expensive, that I had to give up this idea. Then I decided to change it into a magnetic blackboard. There is a type of magnetic paint, which makes things magnetic. One of my teachers had it, but we found that it was harden and couldn't be used, so I only borrowed the blackboard paint from him. And I added 2 "metal sticks" that somehow made magnet usable but in the other hand they are not so "nice to see".

元々、棚の部分は棚ではなく、引き出しだった。でもホワイトボードと棚を一つにしたかったので、棚に変えた。

ホワイトボード？これは黒板だよ。そう、最初は磁石が使えるホワイトボードにしようと思ったがホワイトボードはあまりにも高すぎるので、やめた。それをやめ、磁石が使える黒板にしようと決めた。だが、先生の持っていた磁石の塗料が固まったから、黒板塗料だけ塗った。そして、磁石が使えるように二つの鉄棒をのせた。ちょっとダサイけど。

(3) The Drawer / 引き出し

I have been thinking of making a table that is suitable for students. Students eat and study on a same table. We do not have much spaces in our rooms or dorms to add another table, so what if we make 1 table with the usage of 2? And I designed this.

With this, you can have your cup noodle while reading magazines more relieved because the soup will never spill on your (glass-protected)magazines.

ずっと前から学生向きのデスクを作ろうを思っていた。学生たちは食事も勉強も同じデスクでするわけだ。部屋や寮にはもう一つのテーブルを置く余裕のスペースがないので、一つのデスクで二つのデスクの機能を果たすモノあったらどう？と思った。それで、これをデザインした。

これなら、カップラーメンを食べながら雑誌を読む時、スープが雑誌にこぼす恐れがないはずだ。

(4) The Glass / ガラス

I have to praise the confidence of buying things in Japan. I online checked about the price, emailed the company. The same day, they phoned me, confirmed everything and the glass was delivered to my school 1 week later. Money was paid when it reached.

ここで日本での買物の便利さをほめたい。インターネットで調べて、会社にメール送った。同じ日に、電話がき、全てのことを確認した。ちょうど一週間後に届いた。

(5) The Paint.

I painted it with a type of paint called Osmo. Osmo is said to be "doesn't contain biocides and preservatives". The most important is it is easy and fast! (click here to know more)

オスモという塗料で塗った。オスモは無公害と言われているし、最も大事なのはその早さと簡単さである。(詳しくはこちら)

(6) The Name / 名前

Why Evinne? It simply because I promised my friend Evinne that the car I design in the future would be her name. But that is so far away so I "changed" it.

何故エヴィンなの？何故なら、エヴィンという友達に、将来私のデザインした車は彼女の名前にすると約束した。だが、それはまだまだ遠いので、このデスクに変えた。

これは今まで最も自信ある作品だ。全世界に見せたいぐらいだ。

Car Paper Craft / 車のペーパークラフト

After 2posts that were more "graphic design", now back to my major, product design.

I was trying to make some simple paper craft for the k-car i designed to help my audience imagine the whole car during my presentation.

二つのグラフィックのポストの後、今回は本業のプロダクトデザインに戻る。

プレゼンの時に、視聴者が私のデザインした車を簡単に想像できるように、簡単なペーパークラフトを作った。

These are the model i made. (Ok, I know they somehow look like those we burn for our ancestors.

これらは私のデザインしたモノ。

I actually referred to this one, the "Mitsubishi COLT GIA special" paper craft which i got from the Auto Salon Show 2008.

この Auto Salon Show 2008でもらった"Mitsubishi COLT GIA special"のペーパークラフトを参考した。

I still have some of the papers, anyone who is interested please inform me.

Then, my senior saw it can introduced me Epson Nakajima Racing Paper Craft.
This is brilliant! The cars are very very detailed. They do not look like "made by paper" at all. The designers are just amazing.

この紙まだ持っているので、欲しい方は連絡して下さい。

そして、先輩の堀内さんが私がペーパークラフトを作っているところ見て、Epson Nakajima Racingペーパークラフトを紹介してくれた。
これは素晴らしい。めちゃくちゃ細かい。全然紙でできたには見えないぐらいだ。デザイナー達はすごい。

It's all for me / 全ては私のために

The weather was good outside.

So I grabbeb my Ipod, phone, towel and went for a jog. I gave Jason Mraz, Beyonce, Arvil and some other singers a chance to join me.

Everything was peaceful and comfortable. I reached a park, then my uni. Far away, the sun was going to rest, no, it's going to work in some other part of the world. The sky was in orange color.

天気はとても良かった。

アイポット、携帯、タオルを取り、ジョギングに行った。そしてJason Mraz, Beyonce, Arvilなどの歌手に、一緒に行くチャンスをあげた。

全ては安らかで、気持ちよかった。公園に着き、そして芸工大に着いた。遠くにある太陽は休憩に入るところだった。いや、世界の他のところへ仕事しに行った。空は橙色だった。

I decided to stop jogging, and just walk around.
ジョギンクを止め、歩いた。

By then, I felt like "I'm the on only in the world".

Those singers singing in my pocket sang only for me.
The water was flowing for me.
The bicycles were there for me, to see.
The trees were there for me.
The architects didn't design those beautiful houses for the residents, they did it for my view.

その時、まるでこの世界は私しかいないようだった。

ポケットの中で歌っている歌手は私のために歌っていた。
水は私のために流れいた。
止めてあるチャリは私のためにそこにたまっていた。
木は私のために育った。

毎日は車で移動している？それともバイク？電車？バス？

何でもいいけど、たまには足取りをスピードダウンして、周りに存在しているモノを見るべきだ。

These 3 girls are 3 of my best friend. We were classmates in secondary school.

I wanted to draw something for them as a token of appreciation of the birthday present they gave me this year. And i drew these.

この三人は最も仲いい友達の中の三人です。高校のクラスメートでした。

彼女たちからもらった誕生日プレゼントの感謝の気持ちで、何かを描いてあげようと思いました。なので、これを描きました。

I actually created this blog last year, when i was a 1st year student in Uni. I posted some of my works in the school but I neglected it at last.

Now, I deleted all the posts that and decided to "reopen" this blog. This time, I would update this blog whenever I have new works or I would draw some sketches and upload to here.

このブログを作ったのは去年のことでした。まだ大学一年生の時でした。学校の課題などをアップロードしましたが、結局このブログを放置したままでした。

今、前の記事を全て消しまして、このブログを再開することにしました。今回こそ、新しい作品が出来るたび更新します。またはスケッチを描き、アップロードします。
